Who we are

Novadaur Inc. is a Vermont nonprofit corporation. We run public campaigns on AI safety and clean energy access. This policy explains what information we collect on novadaur.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

If you have questions, email info@novadaur.com or write to:

Novadaur Inc. Attn: Privacy 83 Elmwood Ave, Barre, VT 05641 Email: info@novadaur.com

What we collect

Information you give us. When you sign a petition, join our email list, donate, contact us, or apply for a job, we collect what you enter in the form. Depending on the form, that can include your name, email address, zip code, city, state, phone number, the message you write, and (for job applications) your resume and work history.

Survey responses. We run opinion research on AI, solar power, and electric vehicles through lead forms in Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram. These surveys ask a handful of questions and collect your email address. We use survey responses for research only, and we report the results in aggregate. We don’t add survey respondents to our email list, we don’t send them campaign email, and we don’t upload their email addresses to ad platforms. If a survey offers a prize, we use your email for one purpose: contacting you if you win. Meta also collects data about you under its own privacy policy when you complete a form on its platforms. If we run surveys through other tools in the future, such as Action Network or Qualtrics, those tools will process your responses on our behalf.

Calculator inputs. Our cost-of-ownership calculators ask for details like your country, vehicle type, local fuel prices, and how far you drive. Running a calculation doesn’t require an account, and we don’t connect your inputs to your identity at that stage. If you request a rebate coupon through a calculator, we ask for your email address and vehicle identification details, including a scan of your vehicle’s identification document. We use these to issue the coupon and to enforce our one-coupon-per-person, one-coupon-per-vehicle rule. This policy covers our calculator apps even when they run on their own pages.

Donation information. Donations are handled by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe collects your card or bank details directly. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your name, contact details, and the amount you gave.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar tools to see how people use the site. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and how you got here. We use Google Analytics for this.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver your petition signature to the elected officials it’s addressed to
  • Send you email updates about our campaigns, if you signed up or signed a petition
  • Process your donation and send you a receipt
  • Respond when you contact us
  • Review job applications
  • Run opinion research and publish the findings in aggregate, without naming individual respondents
  • Calculate and show your cost estimates when you use one of our calculators
  • Issue rebate coupons, verify vehicle details, and enforce our one-coupon-per-person, one-coupon-per-vehicle limit
  • Understand how people use the site so we can improve it
  • Show ads to people who already support our work, and find new supporters (details below)
  • Prevent fraud and keep the site secure

We do not use your personal information to train AI models.

Petitions

When you sign a petition, your name and location (such as city, state, or zip code) become part of the petition record we deliver to elected officials and their staff. That’s the point of signing. We may also publish total signature counts. We won’t publish your email address or phone number.

Our petitions and email lists run on Action Network, a platform built for advocacy organizations. Action Network processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy, available at actionnetwork.org.

Rebate coupons and vehicle documents

If you request a rebate coupon through one of our calculator apps, we store your email address, your vehicle details, and the information extracted from your vehicle identification document in our application database. We keep a record of the vehicle identifier and coupon status for as long as the rebate program runs, so the same vehicle can’t be used to claim twice.

We treat document scans as sensitive. Access is limited to the people who verify claims, and we delete the original scan once verification is complete, keeping only the extracted details. If you ask us to delete your data, we’ll remove everything except the minimal record needed to prevent a duplicate claim.

How we use your email for advertising

We want to be direct about this, because most privacy policies bury it.

We upload supporter email addresses, in hashed (scrambled) form, to advertising platforms such as Meta and Google. We do this for three reasons:

  1. To show our campaign ads to people already on our list
  2. To ask those platforms to find new audiences similar to our supporters (often called “lookalike audiences”)
  3. To work with identity resolution services that help us reach our own subscribers with ads across more than one platform

Some state privacy laws treat this kind of ad targeting as “sharing” or “selling” personal data, even though no money changes hands for your information. Whatever the label, you can opt out at any time. Email info@novadaur.com with “ad opt-out” in the subject line and we’ll exclude your information from these uploads going forward.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your personal information for money.
  • We don’t trade or swap our email list with other organizations, including allied nonprofits.
  • We don’t share your donation history publicly.
  • We don’t use your data to train AI models.

Who we share information with

Service providers. Companies that run parts of our operation for us: Action Network (petitions and email), Stripe (donations), Supabase (the database behind our calculator apps), Meta (survey lead forms), Google (analytics and site tools), and our web host. They can only use your data to do work for us.

Elected officials. Your name and location when you sign a petition addressed to them.

Advertising platforms. Hashed email addresses, as described above, unless you opt out.

Legal requirements. We’ll share information if a law, court order, or government request requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

If Novadaur ever merges with or transfers its programs to another nonprofit, supporter data would transfer with them, and this policy would still apply.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from our emails using the link at the bottom of any message
  • Opt out of the ad uploads described above by emailing us
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that’s wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information

To use any of these rights, email info@novadaur.com. We’ll respond within 45 days. We offer these rights to everyone, not just residents of states whose laws require them.

If you ask us to delete your data, we may keep a minimal record (such as your email on a suppression list) so we don’t contact you again, and records we’re legally required to keep, such as donation records for tax purposes.

Cookies and analytics

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on. Blocking cookies won’t break the main parts of the site.

Children

Our site is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we don’t knowingly use the personal information of anyone under 18 for advertising. If you believe a child gave us their information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Visitors outside the United States

Novadaur is based in the United States and our data is processed here. If you visit from another country, your information will be transferred to and stored in the US, where privacy laws may differ from your country’s.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access limits. No website can promise perfect security, so don’t submit anything through our forms that you’d consider highly sensitive.

Data retention

We keep supporter records for as long as we’re actively campaigning and you haven’t asked us to delete them. Donation records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Job applications are kept for up to two years unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top. If we make a change that meaningfully affects how we use your data, we’ll tell email subscribers directly.
